Joni? Good lord... she should've stayed behind the curtain doing backups for Neil.

Only 3 artists in that show did more than 2 songs.

The Band
Dylan
Joni Mitchell

Something is wrong there when you got Ronnie Wood, Ringo, Clapton, Muddy Waters, The Hawk...

Coyote.. C'mon...

different strokes I guess. I think Coyote is a great song from a great album. Ron Wood? Never saw him as nescessary with the Stones why would I there?

Not a fan of the whole hippy chick with guitar with wordy lyrics thing...

Would you rather party with Ronnie Wood, or Joni Mitchell... that's why he's there.

excellent reply on Ron Wood!

Not a fan of hippy folk chicks either but I do like some early Joni. Especially that era when she was playing with Jaco and Pat Metheny

Hahahah... I can't think of any other reason for Ronnie to be there!

To be honest I dig that Coyote tune. But it just irks me that Muddy Waters was almost bumped to give her and The Jazz Singer more time on stage... To me that's criminal.

well it absolutely is for Neil Diamond that's for sure. Not sure what connection she had to them. It's obvious the connect with all the west coasters - CSN and Y etc.

Agreed on JM with Pat and Jaco.

Go through about halfway for an amazing Jaco solo.

Yep; I'm editing....

Gotta throw this one in of Pat's since we were discussing great acoustic players earlier:

I saw Ronnie Wood on Top Gear the other night (it's a car show where all the cars have boots and bonnets
Anyhoo, RW took a spin on this track where different guests race when they are on; he did fairly well--a little above average, I believe. He was talking about one of the Stones having a kick-ass car collection but doesn't drive. He just stands there and listens to the engine idle! I think RW was really on to shill his new book.

Ronnie of course was at his best with Rod and the Faces. Frankly, fuck ya if you don't think this is a stone classic:

Clash, yer maybe not so bad after all. But then, anyone who takes his name from arguably the second best rock band ever has to have something going for him.

I was referring to the Clash as being (arguably) second best to the Grateful Dead. There are definitely days when I prefer the Clash.

Yet again... agreement. Good grief, must be a full moon around or something!

I can't say which is #1, so I call it tie... but for everything The Grateful Dead have ever done nothing can compare to London Calling.

That record is #1 on my desert island list.

If I was ever on the verge of exile I'd grab this couple of minutes of concentrated brilliance over any 30 minutes of Dark Star noodling:

Well I finally got up the courage (damn that SDH! Everything just rolls off his back! Landed on me this time I suppose...crap) to return here and find this gem, as well as the sappy little love song Rob and Clash have written via posts, which shows me all can be right in the world again.

Anyhow, had to chime into say that always, always loved Rod, Ronnie, Small Faces and the like of the late 60s early 70s...Also, Humble Pie, which for some reason comes to mind...not sure why. But, our little family collection of hits (no, there is NO 68 DEAD on it) of about five CDs worth of tunes has some by all of these folks...
